Seraph Wings - PrologHaven stood his ground in defense against the opponent lunging toward him at high speeds. Each swing of their swords echoed in the backdrop of the village that was burning to the ground. The heat from the flames made Haven's vision blur but he did his best to stand toe to toe with his assailant, wishing with each passing moment that he didn't have to fight the one he loved.
The two dashed across stone and dirt as the flames choked the sunlight from the sky. He could feel evil in the air as it coursed through her blood and mind. Across her skin the darkness enveloped every inch of her body all the way to the green glow from her eyes. He knew something had bewitched her sense with this insatiable blood-lust of power and death that plagued her down to the soul, but he could feel her trying to fight it. With each block of his sword he could feel her struggling inside to escape the vicious energies that held her tight.
He jumped back and unfolded his wings as a sign of warning but it did no
Seraph Wings - Chapter 1, Pt 1After five days of traveling on foot Kyia finally made her way out of the thick forest. She could have hitched a ride with local traders that go to and form villages like these, but that would had taken an extra week on the road, so she elected for the faster path through the woods.
At the iron gates to the town stood two decorative guards with long pole-arms at their sides. Kyia noticed they had their eyes on her ever since she broke from the treeline. Seraph Wings - Chapter 1, Pt 2The sun slowly crept underneath the tree tops on the horizon as day turned into night. The streets outside the inn were still bustling with activity as lamps were lit and new shops opened while others closed. Kyia stepped outside of the inn free from her Hunter outfit. In its place was a dark cherry top accompanied by shorts of the same color with black stockings and arm warmers. She felt relaxed here, more relaxed than she had been in previous towns. She didn't want people to see her scars or that she was a Hunter tonight, but as a young woman in her prime enjoying the nightlife.
She walked out into the crowd of people who were gathering for the newly opened shops and occasionally stopped at a few to view their new wares of the night. Down a bit farther from the crowds in the street she found a nice little outdoor restaurant w
ReflectionsVal's pursuit led him to the foul beast's domain. The hollowed-out cavern reeked of blood and rancid meat. The dim light he had seen as he charged through the tunnel after the monster could now be identified: torches. Rows of mysteriously lit torches lined the walls of the huge cave. At its center was a substantially large labyrinth of mirrors.
He spotted the beast entering.
He spun his silver broadsword in his hand and hurried in behind it.
His garb was a simple blue and white crusader's leather with thick armored pads and reinforcing steel studs. Lightweight and flexible, but quite effective defense against blunt blows and – in a pinch – the slashing claws of the unholy spawn of the earth. All monster-hunters wore a similar variety in Val's experience. It would serve him well in these close quarters of the mirrored maze.
Right, left, forward, left, right he turned, always catching a glimpse of the beast's tail as he wove his way through the corridors. Every so often he sp
